Our first Blog

Antique Print Club aims to share information about antique maps and prints with enthusiasts and collectors. Classic-style artwork never goes out of fashion, and appreciation of the traditional printing methods of hundreds of years ago adds greatly to enjoyment of the artwork.

An 'original antique map' or 'original antique print' means that the image was made from the original carved plate and produced at the time of the original publication, for circulation - rather than being only available as a one-off drawing or painting. Even though antique maps and prints are relatively rare today they are still available from specialist dealers around the world. Insufficient time means that a larger portion of antique prints and antique maps are still not available online, so find a trustworthy antique print dealer (us, for instance), let us know your interests or needs, and you will soon have an enviable collection.

Don't assume that antique prints and antique maps are expensive. They are not. As with anything else, you get what you pay for. If you want grand rare artwork hundreds of years old on your wall, that will obviously be more expensive than a small lithograph of a bird or flower, or a map of your family's original country in a corner of Europe that no one else is looking for.

Some antique images that are not available (physically or financially) are now available as reproduction prints (our Heritage Editions items). When you look at them carefully they may not have the definition or quality of colour of an original item, but if a little more money is put into framing with U/V glass to prevent fading, the image can probably be equally enjoyable in the meantime.

We will try to do a Blog each time we have a new collection or exhibition to tell you about; but we also write for publication in magazines and newspapers. You can learn more about antique maps and prints from the 'Reference Library' on our website http://www.antiqueprintclub.com
We hope you find something you would like to own. If we can give you more information about any of our maps or prints, please just phone or email sales@antiqueprintclub.com.

On our Antique Print Club website, below Antique Maps, and Antique Prints, there are Heritage Editions reproduction and Limited Edition maps and prints.
If you have a commercial outlet, are a designer or developer, or buy prints or maps in bulk, we supply at an excellent price for your resale.
Our separate Heritage Editions website offers multiple images of the same item at http://www.heritage-editions.com.au.
